In Niger, GOAL has been active since 2005, primarily responding to food crises and humanitarian needs in vulnerable communities. GOAL Niger has consistently supported districts in the Zinder Region such as Mirriah, Goure, Matamaye, Magaria, and Kantache. Over the years, our activities have spanned various sectors including nutrition, agriculture, food security, livelihoods, environmental management, school rehabilitation, and WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene). Since 2019, GOAL has expanded its efforts in malnutrition prevention to the Tillabery region, specifically in districts like Ouallam.

GOAL is currently scaling up and broadening its program in Niger, and is seeking a highly skilled and committed individual to join our team in Niger. Initial contract duration is 12 months.

Job Purpose

The Grants and Proposal Coordinator works under the supervision of the Country Director and collaborates with the Programmes Director, Systems Director, Area Coordinators, and technical Programme Coordinators. The role focuses on managing our current interventions and leading the development of new proposals and applications.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Donor Proposals and Reports
    • Coordinate the development of high-quality donor proposals, gathering input from programme coordinators, field teams, finance, HR, logistics, and other relevant departments.
    • Ensure timely submission of donor reports, programme reports to Dublin, cluster reports, and other required updates.
    • Provide regular updates on grant status, including proposal and report submissions to management and field teams.
    • Organize grant management meetings (opening, mid-term review, closing), ensuring schedules, documentation, and action points are well managed.
  2. Programme Support
    • Collaborate with Programme Coordinators, Programme Support Officer (PSO), and Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning Coordinator (MEAL Co) to integrate safeguarding, gender, environmental considerations, and Child Protection across relevant sectors.
    • Assist the Head of Programmes in strategy and programme development.
    • Provide quarterly analysis of programme outputs by sector and location to Technical Coordinators and the MEAL team.
    • Work with Programme Coordinators and technical leads to enhance integration between sectors and develop monitoring indicators.
  3. Information Management
    • Maintain and update the proposal and reporting calendar, ensuring all stakeholders are aware of reporting schedules and their responsibilities.
    • Manage all grant-related materials in the programmes folder, including proposals, reports, donor correspondence, meeting minutes, activity and procurement plans, and other relevant documents.
    • Coordinate the development and updating of programme overviews, presentations, success stories, etc.
  4. Business Development and Partnerships
    • Develop and maintain a database of current and prospective donors.
    • Identify potential donors through websites, portals, networks, etc.
    • Participate in Clusters and humanitarian forums as required.
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with partners.
    • Support the Head of Programmes and Country Director in implementing funding strategy action points.
    • Attend representation meetings as needed, particularly Cluster meetings.
    • Serve as a focal point for key donors as requested by the Programmes Director/Country Director.

The Person

Essential

  • At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role in an international NGO or comparable experience in the private sector.
  • Strong understanding of international development, humanitarian issues, and the humanitarian nexus.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and French; proficiency in written English is particularly essential.
  • Experience working in insecure environments for at least 2 years.
  • Ability to write convincingly and concisely, with good verbal reasoning and logical thinking.
  • Technical knowledge in programme design.

Desirable

  • Demonstrated experience in writing proposals for institutional donors like ECHO, USAID, BHA, BPRM, UN agencies.
  • Basic IT systems and network knowledge.
